Meet the Clinicians - Olivia Monahan

Hi there! I am Olivia Monahan, and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of South Carolina and New Jersey. Originally from New Jersey, I am proud to now be in Charleston!

My approach to the therapeutic space is primarily focused on the dynamics of the client-clinician relationship. Without a foundation of trust and authenticity, the client does not feel safe to lean into change, and so I try my best to support creating that space. I consider myself a conversational and eclectic clinician, with a humanistic approach that leans on modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and mind-body understandings. With experience in inpatient, partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings working with children, teens, and adults, I find that my knowledge of different levels of care helps me to meet a client where they are at and support their ability to make sustainable, informed decisions for their future. Nothing is one-size-fits-all, so understanding the individual and their needs and goals is most important.
