Hi there! I am Olivia Monahan, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of South Carolina and New Jersey. Originally from New Jersey, I am proud to now be in Charleston!

 

My approach to the therapeutic space is primarily focused on the dynamics of the client-clinician relationship. Without a foundation of trust and authenticity, the client does not feel safe enough to lean into change, and so I try my best to create that space. I consider myself a conversational and eclectic clinician, with a humanistic approach that incorporates modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and mind-body understandings. With experience in inpatient, partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings, working with children, teens, and adults, I find that my understanding of different levels of care helps me meet clients where they are and support their ability to make sustainable, informed decisions for their future. Nothing is one-size-fits-all, so understanding the individual and their needs and goals is most important.

 

I find it to be a privilege to be able to sit with clients and witness their best, worst, and most vulnerable moments, and I make sure to show that through our work. I am honored to be able to learn from clients just as much as they learn from me and the space. When not with clients, you can find me cooking, baking, reading, making art, going to concerts, and enjoying a good meal and conversation with the people I love.
