Hello and Welcome! My name is Michaela Buckhannon, I have lived in several different States and Countries. I am a wife, mother, and therapist. I believe that people are not solely defined by their experiences or identities, but that we are resilient and have the power to adapt and grow. I value practicing self care as part of my own journey through exercise, spending time outside and with family.
I have been thankful to work with clients in community settings, non-profits, county government, hospitals and through school systems. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and the unique challenges they face. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, self-harm, and problems related to their substance use. I have worked with individuals, groups, and families when it comes to behavior modification, anger, and coping skills. I find myself fortunate to walk alongside people in their journey of self discovery and recovery.
As a caring professional, I provide a safe and confidential environment. I am a voice of compassion and a facilitator of opportunities for growth in the process towards change. I assist my clients in setting their goals and in building skills to help them carry forward. I utilize a broad range of theoretical techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Mindfulness, Experiential therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy. I find when working with clients that both evidence and adaptability are needed for goal attainment as a therapeutic team. It is a privilege to walk alongside people, and I hope that I may have that opportunity to aid in your personal journey.
